Bombers

Freedomʼs Thunder

Dreadnoughts of the air, our WWII bombers pushed the limits of technology and human endurance to deliver the knockout blows to the enemy’s means of making war. Many American-made bombers were sent to the Soviets, as well as to our allies in Europe, Asia and South America under the Lend/Lease program before the U.S. had officially declared war. Some fighter planes doubled as fighter/bombers, but the true “B” designation belonged to the flying battleships, with longer ranges and larger crews including navigators and bombardiers. It’s rare to find fully restored, flying models of these remarkable war-winning machines.
